Overview… working with testbeds in the XenaManager

A testbed of the XenaManager contains all the chassis which have ports that are relevant to a particular project. And if a chassis is not needed there is no reason to add it to the testbed.

However, different ports of a chassis may be used for different projects. So some of the ports of a chassis may in fact not belong in the testbed, and should be excluded from view.

Using ports

Whether a port is used by the current testbed is controlled by right-clicking on the port:

Xena menuuse Working with testbeds

Ports that are not used by the current testbed are shown using italic font in the navigation area.

It is also possible to completely suppress the display of un-used ports:

Xena menushow Working with testbeds

You will typically do this once you have built your testbed and selected the ports that belong to it, leaving you with a neat view of the relevant resources.

Of course, if you need to bring an un-used port into the testbed you need to first make sure all the ports are shown in order to be able to right-click it.

Export and import

The contents of each testbed are retained locally by the XenaManager, and all testbeds are available in the testbed explorer as soon as the XenaManager application is started.

If you want to back-up a testbed, or share it between different users, you can export it by right-clicking the testbed name:

Xena menuexport Working with testbeds

Note that the testbed has to be closed before it can be exported.

The file can then be used to import the testbed into the XenaManager on a different PC:

Xena menuimport Working with testbeds
