Overview… tester state

The Xena testers keep operating and retain their own state regardless of whether there are any clients connected to them. You can connect using the XenaManager or scripting, start some traffic, disconnect from the tester, and connect again later to see how the traffic is doing.

After being powered on or restarted all the test port configurations are in a fully reset state, with no streams defined, no filters, no capturing, etc.

As clients connect they can reserve the ports and then change the port configurations, start and stop traffic, capture received packets, etc. And this state is retained on the tester even as the clients disconnect.

In general, connecting with the XenaManager or starting a scripting session has no impact on the state of the tester. They simply see the tester in its current state. If that state changes due to other users it may need to be refreshed.
