Overview… the M6SFP module

The M6SFP test module has six 1 Gbps ports supporting pluggable transceivers using the SFP interface type.

It is either the sole module of a XenaCompact chassis, or one of several modules of a XenaBay chassis.

SFP transceivers come with a variety of electrical and optical interfaces, supporting different port speeds, different wavelengths, different modes of fiber, and different power output.

Please consult the specifications of your particular transceiver and cable to ensure that a proper connection can be established.

One particular transceiver type is a triple-speed electrical 10/100/1000 Mbps interface using an RJ45 connector. This interface type support auto-negotiation of link speed and is the typical interface used on local area networks.

The LED indicator of the port is turned on when a cable is attached to a matching port of the system under test. Likewise, the XenaManager will show the port as being “IN-SYNC”.

The six port cages can have transceivers of any mixture of types or can be empty.

Transceivers are hot pluggable, and can be removed and inserted while the tester is running.
