Overview… event logging

The transmit and receive statistics show momentary traffic rates and the accumulated traffic counts since statistics were last cleared. This also applies to the error statistics: they show the accumulated number of error events, without specifying when those events occurred.

The “RECEIVE LOG” panel complements the statistics with a time-stamped log of interesting events:

By default only IN-SYNC and NO-SYNC events for the port are logged. Checkboxes allow error events and service disruption events to be logged also.

The XenaManager queries the tester every two seconds, and if any of the tracked values have changed it generates an entry in the log. If events are frequent and this generates too much information, then a checkbox allows you to go to a one-minute logging interval.

Note that the tester itself does not record log information, so logging requires an active XenaManager connection to the tester. When the XenaManager is closed the log entries are lost, but they can be saved to a file.
