Overview… the M2CFP40 module

The M2CFP40 test module has one or two 40 Gbps ports, or up to eight 10 Gbps ports, using pluggable transceivers of the CFP interface type.

It is either the sole module of a XenaCompact chassis, or one of several modules of a XenaBay chassis. In XenaBay it takes up two slots, so there can at most be six of these modules in a single chassis.

CFP transceivers come with a variety of optical interfaces, supporting different wavelengths, different modes of fiber, and different power output.

Some CFP transceivers support two 40 Gbps ports within a single transceiver. It is also possible to use external splitter cables or cartridges to obtain 10 Gbps ports from a 40 Gbps CFP transceiver. The test module mode needs to be configured accordingly in the XenaManager.

Please consult the specifications of your particular transceiver and fiber cable to ensure that a proper connection can be established.

The green LED indicator of the port is turned on when a fiber cable is attached to a matching port of the system under test. Likewise, the XenaManager will show the port as being “IN-SYNC”. The yellow LED indicator is turned on when the port is transmitting packets.

There are only two sets of LED indicators, and there are no sync/traffic indications when in 10 Gbps mode.

Transceivers are hot pluggable, and can be removed and inserted while the tester is running.
